The New York Knicks trailed the San Antonio Spurs by 29 points in the second half, but in nothing less than miraculous fashion, the Knicks came back to beat the Spurs on a game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds left, 107-106.

The story of the game for the Knicks was undoubtedly forward OG Anunoby, who went 10-15 from the field and 7-9 from the three-point line, pouring in 33 points in all. It wasn’t just a beautiful box score game for Anunoby, as he blocked a fast-break layup from Spurs guard De’Aaron Fox with seconds left in the game, before proceeding to one-up himself by tipping in a missed three from Knicks guard Jalen Brunson to give the Knicks a 3-1 series lead over the Spurs. Anunoby downplayed his late game heroics in a postseason press conference, according to SNY, “I was free. There was no one boxing me out. So I just went in there for a tip-dunk and then ended up just tipping it in.”

Record-setting comebacks require more than just one hero. As usual, Brunson was the other hero for the Knicks, leading all scorers by racking up 36 points, including a three over Victor Wembanyama to bring the Knicks to one point behind.

Throughout these playoffs, the Knicks have been smashing the record books. They recorded the biggest win in playoff history with a 51-point blowout April 30 over Atlanta, and now the’ve made largest come-from-behind win in NBA Finals history at 29 points.

The Knicks sit one game away from their first NBA title since former President Richard Nixon’s administration in 1973. The city of New York has not won a major title in basketball, football, baseball or hockey since the New York Giants did so in 2012 against the Patriots. America may not be ready for the celebration in New York if they manage to win just one more game.

For every positive performance the Knicks had, the Spurs had an equally disappointing one, headlined by De’Aaron Fox deciding to take a shot while his team had the lead with the shot clock turned off. Other notable struggles included Julian Champagnie, Wembanyama and the entire Spurs bench minus Dylan Harper.

The series moves back to San Antonio for Game 5 on Saturday, June 13.
