MS NOW host Lawrence O’Donnell on Tuesday called out President Donald Trump for vowing to end wars, only to be “lost” in one instead.
O’Donnell said Trump initially claimed the war with Iran would last days or weeks.
But five months later, it continues to rage ― as does Trump, who in April made a genocidal threat against Iran.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” he wrote on Truth Social at the time, only to announce hours later that he was suspending his attacks.
“And from that moment forward, the world knew that the clownish man who started this war did not know how to wage this war and did not know how to negotiate an end to this war,” he said.
Trump made a similar threat this week against civilian infrastructure, specifically against bridges and power plants, which would be a war crime.
But now, O’Donnell said, no one has any reason to believe his threats.
“And there is the master negotiator at work, for the voters who believed they were electing a master negotiator,” O’Donnell said.
He told those voters what they really got in the White House instead.
“He is the single stupidest public negotiator in the history of American government and the whole world knows it,” he said. “Iran knows it. Even the propagandists at Fox can no longer pretend to believe Donald Trump when he says he is talking to members of the Iranian regime.”
O’Donnell played a clip of the right-wing network’s hosts trying to get answers on Iran from Trump, but getting nowhere.
