Legendary R&B singer Peabo Bryson, the iconic voice behind “Beauty and the Beast” and Aladdin’s “A Whole New World died after suffering a stroke at the age of 75.
“With broken hearts and profound sadness, the family of two-time Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and balladeer, Peabo Bryson, announces his passing,” his loved ones said in a statement issued to TMZ.
Bryson died Tuesday at pm, “surrounded by the love of his family and those closest to him.”

Bryson’s 1991 duet of “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion became a beloved hit with audiences of all ages, evolving into one of the most iconic songs ever associated with an animated film.
He teamed with Regina Belle a year later for “A Whole New World” from the “Aladdin” soundtrack. The song soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making history as the first track from an animated movie to top the chart.
Bryson’s sweet melodies and signature sounds included hits “Tonight, I Celebrate My Love,” and “If Ever You’re in My Arms Again.”

“We are tremendously moved by the outpouring of love, prayers and support from fans, friends, and colleagues around the world,” Bryson’s family said in a statement shared with People .

“His legacy and music will live on for generations to come.”
Bryson is survived by his wife, Tanya, their son Robert, daughter Linda, and his three grandchildren.
