Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton made some comments in a 2023 interview with Jay Shetty that didn’t age very well.
During his interview, Hamilton told Shetty the gap between the wealthy and the poor affected him greatly, and he lashed out against the super-wealthy by saying nobody should be able to be a billionaire. It sounded noble at the time — but he’s been dating Kim Kardashian for several months, and Forbes pegged her net worth to be approximately $1.9 billion in 2026.
He seems to be ok with it now.
Lewis Hamilton says billionaires shouldn’t exist:
“You shouldn’t be allowed to have billions. There should be a limit to how much you can have.”
He has an estimated net worth of $550 million.

Hamilton’s initial comments sounded sincere, but he seems smitten by Kardashian, who makes no secret of her wealth and routinely flaunts her fortune.
Dating a billionaire seems to be a drastic shift for someone so irritated by the super-rich.
“One of the things that I struggle with every day, and it’s just the way life is, and it’s been that way for thousands of years – that there is such a disparity between the wealthy and the poor,” he told Shetty in 2023.

“When you’re driving in LA there’s still so many people living on the streets – you shouldn’t be able to have billions,” he said.
“There should be a limit to how much you can have because I think there’s enough to go around to everyone.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Hamilton said he aspires to “create more equality, and equal access for everyone.”
“Geez man, I’ve met kids that are starving, and you think how – we are so, so lucky – so many of us,” he said. (RELATED: Internet Slams Kim Kardashian’s Parenting Fail After North West Debuts Shocking Body Modification)

It appears he has the means to do so, and he doesn’t even need to lean on his billionaire girlfriend for any help.
In fact, Forbes ranked Hamilton as#10 on a list of the highest-paid athletes, with an estimated $100 million net worth.
Social media has erupted with criticism, and he’s facing backlash for walking back on his own statement — but he has not issued a response.
