JJ Bush, a freshman linebacker for the Missouri football program. has been suspended indefinitely by the Tigers after he was arrested Monday, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune.

Bush was placed under arrest and hit with a Class D felony charge of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention of motor vehicle, while also getting knocked with a Class B misdemeanor charge of careless and imprudent driving.

The Columbia Police Department booked Bush after midnight Tuesday at 12:47 a.m. (RELATED: 2 Ole Miss Football Players Placed Under Arrest For DUI: REPORT)

“We are disappointed in JJ’s actions,” said head coach Eli Drinkwitz in a statement that was published by the Columbia Daily Tribune. “He is indefinitely suspended from the team as the legal process plays out.”

Per a probable cause statement, the 18-year-old was seen driving “approximately 80 mph” along East Broadway, allegedly going around 40 mph over the speed limit.

In a complaint that was filed by the Boone County prosecuting attorney, Bush was given a charge of traveling 90 mph.

It’s stated by the probable cause statement that it was claimed by Bush that he didn’t spot police until their vehicle had its emergency lights on. Then, Bush was questioned regarding why he kept speeding after he saw police, with the Mizzou freshman allegedly responding “that’s just how my car is.” It was estimated by Bush that he was traveling 80-90 mph after being asked by police.

Per a Missouri Courts docket entry, Bush was out on bond prior to the case being filed.

In the Tigers‘ 2026 signing class, Bush was one of the top players, rated by 247Sports as a four-star prospect.
