“My Hero Academia Final Season” took home the top prize for Anime of the Year at the 10th Crunchyroll Anime Awards, held on Saturday, May 23, in Tokyo.
Voice actress Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira were back for the fourth year in a row to host the event; guest presenters included The Weeknd, who announced the anime of the year category. Other presenters included actor Asuka Saito, K-pop artist BamBam, cosplayer Enako, actor Kasumi Arimura; comedic duo Mitorizu, actor Nanase Nishino, Brazilian esports and gaming host Nyvi Estephan, pan-India star Rashmika Mandanna; the Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA; K-pop singer and dancer TEN, actor Winston Duke and recording artist Young Miko.
The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, arranged by Kazunori Miyake and conducted by Hirofumi Kurita, opened the night. Other performances included Dean Fujioka, Yoko Takahashi, Pornograffitti and Asian Kung-Fu Generation.
Also during the event, director Tatsuya Nagamine was honored with the Global Impact Award for his work on projects such as “Ojamajo Doremi,” “PreCure,” “Dragon Ball Super” and “One Piece.” Animator Masayuki Sato (“Happiness Charge PreCure!,” “One Piece”) accepted the award on Nagamine-san’s behalf.

According to Crunchyroll, 73 million votes were cast by fans worldwide for the Anime Awards, a new record. The top most engaged countries this year were Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico and the United States.
The 10th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards will be available to stream shortly on Crunchyroll and Crunchyroll’s YouTube Channel, along with Sony Group Corp Global and Japan YouTube channels.
