An unruly passenger aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Miami to Atlanta was kicked off the plane and arrested on Monday after she reportedly refused to end a phone call, much to her fellow passengers’ dismay.
In a video obtained by Fox 5 Atlanta, passengers could be heard attempting to reason with the woman, some asking her to be considerate and others flatly lobbying for airline personnel to remove her.
All passengers were forced to deplane, and the woman, identified by police as Shannon Marie Harris, of Tyrone, Ga., was arrested and booked on trespassing charges, according to the arrest report.
The arresting officer told Fox 5 Atlanta that Harris allegedly became “belligerent” towards the airline staff, so the captain decided to return to the gate to have her removed. Once at the gate, a Delta supervisor asked Harris to voluntarily leave the plane, but she refused, and that’s when police were called.
When Harris refused to get off the plane, the airline decided to remove all passengers and allow police to handle the situation. Delta officials told the outlet the flight took off an hour late due to the incident.
The video showed passengers cheering when law enforcement entered the plane and asked Harris to leave.
Arrest records indicate she was released on a $500 bond on Tuesday. Harris did not have an attorney listed on record.
