My Hero Academia chapter 390 is set to release on Monday, May 29, 2023, at 12 am JST. With the Todoroki family drama seemingly rapidly approaching its climax, fans are excited to see how the next issue further progresses towards this moment. Likewise, fans are desperate to discover who from the Todoroki family will die from Dabi’s blast, if anyone at all.

Unfortunately, fans won’t be able to confirm exactly what the issue will focus on until verifiable spoiler information for My Hero Academia chapter 390 becomes available. Fans do at least have official release information for the highly-anticipated upcoming issue, with spoiler information expected to be released in the coming days.

My Hero Academia chapter 390 likely to finally see Dabi blow just as Shoto arrives on the scene

Release date and time, where to read

My Hero Academia chapter 390 will be officially released on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 12 am JST. For most international fans, this means the issue will be released sometime during the day on Sunday, May 28. Select international readers, like Japanese audiences, will see the issue release in the early morning hours of Monday, May 29. Exact release time, however, will vary by region and time zone.

Fans can read the issue on either Shueisha’s free MANGAPlus service, Viz Media’s official website, or Shueisha’s paid Shonen Jump+ app. MANGAPlus and Viz Media’s website are free services which allow readers to view the first and latest three issues in a series. Shonen Jump+, meanwhile, is a paid, subscription-based service which gives readers access to a series in its entirety.

  • Eastern Standard Time: 11 am, Sunday, May 28
  • Greenwich Mean Time: 3 pm, Sunday, May 28
  • Central European Time: 4 pm, Sunday, May 28
  • Indian Standard Time: 8:30 pm, Sunday, May 28

Chapter 389 recap

My Hero Academia chapter 389 began with reports that, while Dabi’s rise in temperature was slowing down, he was still inevitably set to explode. The Todoroki family, meanwhile, continued trying to use their ice to cool down Toya and themselves simultaneously. Dabi, meanwhile, recognized that everyone was watching him, asking if this is what it felt like and if it was so easy, why did it take so long to happen.

As Dabi says this, shots of a pained Endeavor and retreating Heroes and civilians can be seen. Toga’s Twice clones are also seen, as well as a shot of Ochaco Uraraka fighting Himiko Toga herself as other Heroes retreat. The issue then cuts to three children whom Shoto and Bakugo met when doing make-up lessons for their provisional licenses, seemingly watching a live stream of something.

A news reporter is then seen filming Dabi’s heat sphere, while the child who supported Endeavor on TV was shown to be watching Endeavor and praying for him. The issue then cut to a cafe in the Philippines, where a woman was also seen praying. The three children are then seen once again, saying everything will be fine because “Five Wieners” is on their side. This is the nickname they gave to Shoto Todoroki, who can be seen racing on Tenya Iida’s back as the issue ends.

What to expect (speculative)

#MHA390 Speculation

Despite the soft feelings at the end of #MHA388, Touya is unfazed his pursuit for revenge.

I wonder if he is even capable of stopping if he wanted to…

Well, he’s not a child anymore, but still.

My Hero Academia chapter 390 will almost certainly continue to focus on the Todoroki family drama narrative and its seemingly imminent climax. This is especially true considering that author and illustrator Kohei Horikoshi has simply put fans too deep into the plotline as it currently stands to pull them away from it.

Likewise, with Shoto seemingly set to arrive on the scene in My Hero Academia chapter 390, it makes even less sense to shift perspectives in the upcoming release. As a result, fans can expect to see at least the start of the climax to the series’ long-running B-story in the next issue.
