The medical examiner reporteldy determined that “Lizzie McGuire” and “Revenge of the Nerds” actor Robert Carradine died of a brain injury connected to hanging.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s report indicated that Carradine checked himself into a local psychiatric hospital where he had previously been treated at for active suicidal ideation, according to TMZ. An employee of the facility reportedly attended the actor’s room to let him know that his daughter phoned in to speak with him and discovered Carradine hanging and unresponsive.

The report went on to say that Carradine was suffering from cardiac arrest, with medical staff trying to resuscitate the actor and rushing him to intensive care. He passed weeks after on Feb. 23, according to TMZ.

Carradine’s manner of death was determined to be suicide. He did not leave behind a suicide note, according to the report.
The medical examiner reported that his daughter informed investigators her father had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had faced mental health challenges for roughly 20 years. He suffered from severe depression and anxiety, and was using multiple medications at the time of his tragic passing, according to the report. Carradine amassed more than 150 current and upcoming acting credits to his name over the course of his career in entertainment. Some of his many notable roles include “The Cowboys,” “Django Unchained,” “Joyride,” “ER” and “The Big Red One.”
He was 71.
