Savannah Guthrie Pleads For Mom’s Return In New Video

Savannah Guthrie hasn’t given up hope of locating her mother, Nancy Guthrie, nearly six months after the 84-year-old’s disappearance.

On Monday, the NBC journalist shared an emotional video on Instagram in which she pleaded with her mother’s captors to “do the right thing.”

“The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way,” she said in the clip. “So I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her.”

“For all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done, I believe there is always a way home. Please make the right choice,” Savannah Guthrie added.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen alive around 9:50 p.m. on Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her home near Tucson, Ariz., after dinner with relatives. She was reported missing on Feb. 1.

In the days following her disappearance, several ransom notes were sent to the media as well as members of the Guthrie family that investigators initially deemed credible. One such note demanded a reported $6 million in cryptocurrency for Nancy Guthrie’s return.

Although it was later determined that several of the notes were fake, the FBI confirmed earlier this month that it was still investigating Nancy Guthrie’s case as a kidnapping for ransom. A number of other notes that were purportedly linked to her disappearance have also been made public, but they remain unverified.

Savannah Guthrie and her family members have offered a $1 million reward for their mother’s recovery, but to date, no suspects have been identified. The most significant lead in the case remains surveillance images and video showing a masked individual on the front steps of Nancy Guthrie’s home on the night of her alleged abduction.

Following a leave of absence, Savannah Guthrie returned to work at NBC’s “Today” in April. She has continued to acknowledge her mother on social media.

In June, Savannah Guthrie made a brief appearance at the end of a “Today” segment that included details about Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

“We are in agony. We cannot be at peace … this is a moment to tell you that we need your help,” she said at the time. “We’re begging for your help, and I’m not going to miss that opportunity.”
