In the “Late Night” host’s weekly online update during the show’s summer hiatus, Meyers said his “least favorite thing about the name change” was the way Trump, in a video announcing his executive order, crossed out both the words “Lake” and “Ontario” on a map before writing in “Lake America.”
“Why not just cross out Ontario and write America?” Meyers asked.
The renaming itself — which, like Trump’s “Gulf of America” order for the Gulf of Mexico, has no standing with other countries or private entities — was “real dork shit,” Meyers declared.
“I mean, they’re just such dorks,” he continued of Trump, who has launched a trade war against Canada.
“Again, it is a real reminder that they can’t actually accomplish anything,” he said.
“Nobody cares,” he added. “Everybody can see it for what it is.”
