President Donald Trump has lost significant support among mothers across the United States, with the economy and cost of living under his administration being top priorities for many who run their family households ahead of the midterm elections, according to a recent poll.
The Echelon Insights survey, conducted online between July 9 and July 13, sampled 1,004 people across the U.S. likely to vote in the midterms this November. It found that 61% of respondents strongly or somewhat disapprove of Trump’s job performance.
Many demographics surveyed in the poll appear to have abandoned Trump over issues they deem most important, and mothers were no different. A whopping 67% said the country is “on the wrong track” under Trump, with 30% citing cost of living as “the biggest issue.”
Thirteen percent of moms listed political corruption as “the biggest issue” facing the U.S. today. Another 19% said it was the “second biggest issue.” The data shows 48% of moms believe cost of living is among the top two issues — and that they generally dislike Trump.
Fifty-nine percent of moms said they have a “very” or “somewhat” unfavorable view of Trump.
The president’s ongoing war on Iran has forced families across the country to tighten their belts, as it has led to the repeated disruption of the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world’s oil passes, and consequently driven up food and gas prices.
The cost of living has also ballooned as a result of the “big, beautiful” bill Trump passed into law last year, which is set to kick millions of people off of Medicaid and implement strict new eligibility requirements for a federal food program affecting some 42 million Americans.
While the survey didn’t poll mothers on student loans, more than 4.2 million people defaulted on payments between April 2025 and March 2026, after the Trump administration allowed a freeze to expire, according to an Associated Press analysis published Wednesday.

Republicans appear concerned about the midterms in November as a result of Trump’s policies. When the moms were asked whether they feel “the current economic situation” is improving, worsening or staying the same, a striking 62% surveyed said that it is getting “a lot,” or at least “a little,” worse.
