Some of President Donald Trump’s most loyal supporters say he hasn’t delivered on one of his biggest campaign promises – and they’re hurting because of it.
Trump won the 2024 election in part by vowing to reduce prices and reverse the inflation that struck after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one,” he said on the campaign trail, and frequently offered variations on that same promise.
“Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down and we will make America affordable again,” he said in August 2024. “We’re going to make it affordable again.”
But that hasn’t happened.
