Firebrand socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said nothing is off the table in 2028 during an interview with ABC’s Jonathan Karl on Sunday.
“I’m focused on winning the midterms. I’m running for Congress right now,” she said while leaving the door open to a presidential bid or a challenge to current Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
This comes as AOC leads the Democratic field in New Hampshire, historically the first in the nation.
Asked if a 2028 presidential run was “realistic,” AOC said, “Well, I haven’t ruled out the possibility.”
On a 2028 primary against Chuck Schumer, she said, “I mean, I think that anything is possible at this juncture.”

Karl: we’re almost out of time, but get to your future. I’m sure you saw the poll in New Hampshire that had you as the leading candidate, leading choice for Democrats. First, are you going to run for president?
Ocasio-Cortez: I mean, I’m focused on winning the midterms. I’m running for Congress right now.
Karl: But, I mean, do you see this as something? I mean, I know you said you’re open to it.
Ocasio-Cortez: Yes, I —
Karl: Is it a realistic possibility for you?
Ocasio-Cortez: I haven’t — well, I haven’t ruled out the possibility. And I’m very humbled to the tremendous amount of support out there. I think that we have a responsibility to remain focused on the midterms and not on our individual aspirations or plans.
Karl: And running for Senate against Chuck Schumer. Is that also something that’s possible?
Ocasio-Cortez: I mean, I think that anything is possible at this juncture.
The embattled Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, is likely on his way out as the Democratic Socialists of America gain steam in the Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, he has repeatedly dodged questions about the DSA’s growing influence and refused to say whether he would support DSA candidates even in the general election.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Schumer last week dodged questions about Socialist Democratic Senate Nominee Abdul El-Sayed and the DSA ahead of the Michigan primary elections, where El-Sayed beat Schumer-backed Haley Stevens.
