Silver prices opened in the $68 range yet again this morning following yesterday’s inflation report.
The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) report, the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, showed price growth on both a monthly and yearly basis, largely in line with analysts’ expectations. But despite meeting expectations, the report did little to quell the division within the Federal Reserve on what should happen with interest rates next month.
Silver investors, much like everyone else, now have their attention squarely focused on Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s first official speech as leader of the Federal Reserve Friday at the Fed’s Jackson Hole summit. Observers are hoping for more clues as to whether the Fed will raise or hold rates steady in September.
