It all started when Taylor Murphy, who runs a security company in Utah, took to X Monday night to gripe about the ads broadcast during the games, specifically an ad for erectile dysfunction pills featuring featuring Megan Fox and an innuendo-laced sports betting commercial with Sydney Sweeney.
Murphy’s post attracted positive and negative attention.
Call, who also felt passionate about the issue, used Murphy’s post to call out MLB and its TV partners early Thursday morning .
JS reached out to MLB headquarters for comment, but no one immediately responded.
Call is not the only athlete who has called out Sweeney’s commercial.
After her ad for Novig, a sports prediction market app, was released last month, various female athletes criticized it for being sexist and objectifying women.
The Female Athlete Project, an online platform for female athletes, summed up the sentiment with this statement:
We’re not entirely sure if ‘Novig’ or Sydney Sweeney and her PR team have ever watched sports. But honestly, wow. It’s incredible they could fit so much misogyny in 40 seconds.
