Caitlin Clark just doing Caitlin Clark things.
The Indiana Fever suffered defeat Friday against the Washington Mystics, losing in overtime by a 104-102 score. Despite that, however, it was still a brilliant day from superstar Caitlin Clark.
Prior to the game, there was some worry regarding the shooting from Clark, recording a 3-of-16 mark in three-point shooting. With that being said, all those worries disappeared against the Mystics, tallying 32 points on a 10-of-28 clip from the field. From the three, she was 7-of-17. Yeah, it’s not the best percentage, but it showed that Clark can still knock ’em down.
And when she’s not, she can easily transition into a game where she racks up assists by creating opportunities for her teammates. The original numbers from Friday saw Clark finish with 8 assists. However, a lot of fans raised their eyebrows over this. (RELATED: Female NASCAR Driver Natalie Decker Completely Crashes Out, Rage-Quits Craftsman Truck Series In Middle Of Race)
@CClarkReport, an account on Twitter, put up a post that featured footage of two plays from the game between the Fever and Mystics, writing with it, “Caitlin Clark was not credited with assists on either of these plays, leaving her 2 assists short of the 6th 30 point 10 assist game in WNBA history. It would have been her 2nd such game, more than any player in WNBA history.”
You can watch the video here, and as you’ll see, it’s pretty clear that the assists should have been given to Clark.
This seemingly captured the WNBA’s attention. A couple of days later, which was Sunday, the Fever posted on Twitter just prior to their game against the Seattle Storm that Clark was indeed rewarded the assists.
“Caitlin Clark is officially the first player in WNBA history to record multiple games of 30+ points and 10+ assists,” captioned the Fever. “Stats from Friday’s game against the Mystics have been corrected, so she finished the game with 32 points & 10 assists.”
