Laura Ingraham’s repeated focus on one particular part of Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign is seeing her mocked as “thirsty” online.
The Fox News personality has drawn attention on multiple occasions in recent days to the Michigan Democratic Senate candidate’s fitted, black T-shirts, at one point even bringing his muscles into an interview with his GOP rival.
In one segment, Ingraham accused El-Sayed of being “evasive” and “glib” with his answers on healthcare policy, but then got personal, saying it’s “exactly what you would expect from a guy who thinks he gets working-class cred by wearing a tight black T-shirt.”
She also called him “gym boy.”
Ingraham also made mention during an interview with El-Sayed’s Republican opponent, Mike Rogers.
“Are we going to see you in a tight black T-shirt, Mike? Are you going to try to outdo him on the pecs, or what? Because that seems to be his new campaign, working-class costume.”
“Well, and he wears the same schmedium T-shirt at every event,” Rogers replied.
Ingraham also talked about El-Sayed’s appearance while discussing whether voters who backed moderate Democrat Haley Stevens would now switch their support to “the guy who’s the socialist dreamboat of diversity.”
“Are they really going to buy his attempt to pivot and his silly gym rat flex and his tight-fitting black tee?”
