REPORT: Man Shot At UFC Fighter’s Home

A man named Luis Leoncini was reportedly shot at famous UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal’s Miami-area home Thursday afternoon, and Masvidal’s father has been charged with attempted murder.

The Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a call placed at roughly 3 p.m., according to TMZ. EMTs were already there when they arrived. First responders were “rendering aid to an adult mail who was shot in his upper extremities,”  as police began to assess the scene, the outlet reported.

Police said there was an altercation between Leoncini and Masvidal Sr., which quickly escalated to violence, according to TMZ. Reports indicate there was a verbal altercation before the gunfire. Leoncini was rushed to a local area hospital, where he currently remains in stable condition. The male victim was shot at least once in the arm, according to TMZ. Jorge Masvidal was not home at the time of the incident, but his father, Jorge Masvidal Sr., was reportedly taken into police custody, and arrested for second-degree attempted murder with a with a deadly weapon, according to TMZ.

Police investigating Jorge Masvidal Sr. allege that he shot both of the man’s arms amid a disagreement. Jail records show Jorge Masvidal Sr. was booked at 1:33 a.m. Friday, following allegations he opened fire near the kitchen of his son’s home, according to TMZ. Police said Leoncini told them he had been  “involved in an argument that escalated when Masvidal Sr. produced a firearm and shot him.” It’s unclear what prompted the verbal disagreement in the first place, according to TMZ.

Jorge Masvidal recently retired from the UFC, and remains one of the most popular fighters, according to TMZ.
