Johnson’s Trump crashed a Downing Street meeting between U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham (played by George Fouracres) and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (portrayed by Freddie Meredith) after Burnham uttered POTUS’ name.
“I’m in town to see my favorite comedian,” said Trump. “He’s performing live at the High Court in the role of defendant.”
He then proposed a job swap with Burnham, saying of America:
“I tell you that place is a real mess, you’re going to hate it. It’s an awful, awful job. It’s a terrible place full of disgusting people. I don’t know why I do it.”
“Come on, this country has gone to the dogs, and I alone can fix it,” Trump responded, then riffing on a list of controversial issues in the U.K.
Trump later mocked the show on which he was appearing, declaring British comedy to be in a “bad situation” if the Lorne Michaels-executive-produced “SNL UK” “doesn’t have anyone” who can play the president.
After Trump’s begging of Burnham, and then Zelenskyy, to swap positions proved futile, Burnham ended the bit, telling Zelenskyy: “As dire as things may be, what matters most is that we all be nice to this insane man.”
