Two freshmen a part of the Ole Miss football program were placed under arrest May 3, according to the arrest docket from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department via The Clarion-Ledger.

Rees Wise, an 18-year-old quarterback for the Rebels, was knocked with a DUI charge from the Oxford Police Department. It’s Wise’s first offense. He was also given a reckless driving charge. It wasn’t specified when exactly Wise was booked, however, it was just after midnight.

It wasn’t made clear in Wise’s entry regarding the bond method, but he’s not listed any longer on the website of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, according to The Clarion-Ledger. (RELATED: Legendary Yankees Broadcaster John Sterling Dead At 87)

In the 2026 recruiting class, Wise was listed as a three-star recruit.

Damarius Yates, a 19-year-old running back for Ole Miss, was placed under arrest May 3, being booked by the Oxford Police Department at 2:50 a.m.

Yates was also given a DUI charge, with it being his first offense as well. Additionally, Yates was hit with reckless driving and speeding charges. Per the docket, he’s out on bond, according to The Clarion-Lodger.

Wise was placed in the 2026 recruiting class as a four-star recruit.

In Mississippi, if their blood alcohol concentration registers over .02%, an underage driver receives DUI charges.

For the Ole Miss football team, this is the second arrest that they’ve recently had to deal with.

Carius Curne, an offensive tackle who transferred from LSU and could potentially start next season, was placed under arrest Apr. 25 in Arkansas on six different charges — reckless driving, fleeing on foot, speeding in excess of 15 mph over the limit, improper passing, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. The case is now resolved.
